Below are pictures of the evolution of the Green Robot. This first one shows up on Front page, but doesn't make it to print. LOL, Too bad!

THE GREEN ROBOT 1

The first Green Robot. Was created on a breadboard. I used a baby monitor module to transmit video. There is an  FET full bridge circuit. There was also a Linx radio transceiver. There were also 3 very heavy 12V lead acid batteries. For the chassis, I used a remote car frame and used a servo to steer. It doesn't look pretty, but it worked!

THE GREEN ROBOT 2

The second Green Robot used a PVC for the frame. A pc board was fabricated for this version. This circuit uses a TDA8822 to modulate an NTSC video signal to a TV standard frequency. I also discovered a full bridge motor drive IC. I really liked the real time video, but I don't think the FCC could care for it. It transmitted on channel 10 at 1Watt. My neighbors also didn't like it.

THE GREEN ROBOT 3

The technology for the next Green Robot started to improve dramatically. I updated the processor to a more powerfull PIC 8-bit. I could now control several servo's, which allowed a pan and tilt function. For the radio, I used a Linx 900 Mhz transceiver with RSSI. This allowed me to monitor signal levels via the A to D converter and qualify signals for reception. The robot was set up via a menu where number of servo's could be configured. This robot used an IP camera, from AXIS and the usual TV transmitter used on Green Robot 2. I also went to a 4 motor drive configuration. This allowed the robot to rotation about the center.

THE GREEN ROBOT 4

The technology for the fifth robot is continuing to improve. The frame is now a 1/8" sheet of aluminum. It has been primered and painted. The new mother board can control 6 servo's, 2 quad motor boards(8 motors total) an integrated video to IP server, a wireless 2.4Mhz video camera, a GPS module which transmits GPS data to the remote controller. There is also a spread spectrum transceiver, which allows longer control range, up to 1/4 mile. Farther than the video, which has been tested up to 300 feet indoors. I have not tested outdoors yet. The robot still has the 4 motor configuration, which I like.

THE GREEN ROBOT 5

The Green Robot 5 is in the final stages of development. Pictured above is the chassis. Picture one shows the 4 dc motor configuration, along with a 2200mAh 16V Li Ion Battery pack. The second picture shows the improved quad dc motor driver board. The mother board will have all the features of the Green Robot 4 with some added technology. An accelerometer and an electronic compass have been added. The microcontroller has been updated also. We'll be using the PIC24FJ256GB110. This 16-bit processor has 256k of program memory. The last version had 8k. There is also an OLED display added to the mother board and the transmitter module. The transmitter module will have a video monitor build in, so you don't have to sit in front of your television to drive.
